Cincinnati High Schools Transform Fall Sports With New 2026 Facilities

Seton High School broke ground on a $16 million all-girls sports complex in Delhi Township, scheduled to open for the 2026 fall sports season.

The timing aligns with the start of high school competition across Greater Cincinnati. Teams in the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference, the Eastern Cincinnati Conference and the Miami Valley Conference begin their schedules in August, and the new facility gives Seton athletes dedicated space for practice and games that previously required shared or off-site venues.

Facility Upgrades Across the Region

Other recent investments shape the broader landscape. The University of Cincinnati opened its $134 million Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility and Athletics Performance Center in June 2025, providing a 120-yard indoor field for football and related programs. The Cincinnati Open completed a $260 million overhaul of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason in 2025, adding 31 outdoor courts and indoor options. The Cincinnati Cyclones purchased the $6.2 million Sports Plus facility in Evendale and rebranded it the Queen City Sportsplex for team use. FC Cincinnati continues to seek $136.3 million in state unclaimed funds for TQL Stadium expansions and mixed-use work expected to begin in summer 2026.

These projects sit alongside existing high school events such as the Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase, which fields 84 baseball and softball teams from the area in 49 games running from March 27 to May 16 each year. Sycamore High School's new Dan Henke Field, a synthetic-turf surface, already hosted early contests in that series.

Numbers That Frame the Season

Walnut Hills High School recorded 99 students earning Eastern Cincinnati Conference All-Academic honors in the 2025 season for maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA. Seton's $16 million project, the $134 million Sheakley center and the $260 million Mason tennis overhaul supply concrete benchmarks for how local spending translates into training capacity ahead of fall competition.

Coaches and athletic directors now focus on integrating the new spaces into daily routines before the first contests. Delhi Township construction crews continue work on the Seton site while programs finalize equipment and scheduling details for the weeks ahead.
