Greater Cincinnati hospitals and health systems have updated visitation policies to allow one support person per admitted patient. The rules require masks, limit visitors to age 15 and older, include screening for symptoms or exposure, and set hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

These changes occur alongside efforts by the Cincinnati Health Department to meet its strategic goal of reducing excess years of life lost in the city by 20 percent by 2030. That target addresses a 16 percent increase in years lost since 2010, when local life expectancy stood at 75.3 years compared with 79.1 years nationally.
